Campaign position

Community acquisition and reparatory-justice mandate

The campaign combines a specific community objective concerning the Bernie Grant Arts Centre with the wider development of an accountable reparatory-justice institution.

Objective 1 — Bernie Grant Arts Centre

Build an evidenced community mandate to pursue the lawful acquisition, protection or durable community stewardship of the Bernie Grant Arts Centre.

Qualification: the project does not state that a purchase is complete, that a binding right to purchase has been established or that an authorised sale price has been agreed.

Objective 2 — African Reparations Movement UK

Develop a democratic and accountable institution capable of constructing and delivering reparatory justice for Black and Mixed-Black people.

Beneficiary rules, forms of repair, governance, eligibility and financial arrangements remain matters for lawful institutional development and consultation.

Present stage

Public petition

Live on Change.org. A petition signature is separate from a pledge.

Community pledge system

The old ARM-BGAC records remain preserved. A new anonymous, reference-controlled and revocable system is being installed separately.

BGAC acquisition

Community campaign objective. No completed purchase or guaranteed transaction is represented.

ARM institutional development

Development stage. Formal governance and future institutional arrangements remain to be established.

Data continuity

The redesigned website does not require destruction of the historical campaign record. Legacy pledges, nominations and audit information remain preserved separately from the new anonymous pledge architecture.

Separate forms of participation

Signing the petition, recording a pledge, making a nomination and participating in discussion are separate actions. Completing one does not automatically complete another.
