Good News: Alkebulan, ACLC and Reparation Nation Limited

Development Notice: Reparation Nation Limited confirms that its board has approved the plan to help heal the “great rift” between the Alkebulan movement and the African Caribbean Leadership Company Limited as part of the wider IBIS reparatory justice development plan.

The purpose of this development is to support reconciliation, practical cooperation, cultural restoration, and institutional alignment between existing African-centred community activity and the proposed reparatory justice infrastructure.

This page recognises the Alkebulan movement as an established African-centred liberation, cultural, spiritual, and community movement, and recognises ACLC as an existing African Caribbean organisational structure connected to the wider community history of the former West Indian Cultural Centre.

The objective is not to erase either structure. The objective is to create a practical bridge between movement, community, institution, and reparatory justice delivery.

Current Alkebulan Meeting Position

Alkebulan currently holds regular monthly community gatherings at another location. The current public position is that Alkebulan activity continues independently while the wider 2027 development plan is prepared.

The proposed plan is to fully utilise the refurbished centre as a permanent and regular community base, with the intention of supporting weekly Alkebulan meetings when the building is ready and properly organised for public use.

The intended transition is:

Proposed Weekly Alkebulan Meetings

The weekly Alkebulan meetings are intended to provide a regular cultural, spiritual, historical, educational, and community discussion space.

The purpose of the weekly meetings would include:

The weekly meeting model is intended to move the work from occasional gathering to continuous community development.

Healing the Great Rift

The phrase “healing the great rift” refers to the need to repair separation between African-centred movement activity, African Caribbean institutional infrastructure, and practical reparatory justice delivery.

The proposed reconciliation is based on the following principle:

Alkebulan provides movement, culture, philosophy, and spiritual continuity. ACLC provides community history and organisational connection. Reparation Nation Limited and IBIS provide the proposed administrative and reparatory justice framework.

The plan is to bring those functions into constructive alignment without confusing their separate roles.

If successful, the refurbished centre would operate as a bridge between:

Development Summary
